Demonstration Speeches Teach Speaking and Listening Skills
Students in Fuqua School's communication class are learning that a demonstration enhances a message, making it easier for an audience to understand and remember. Students choose a familiar topic and prepare a presentation for the class and invite guests. The topics for this semester include cooking demonstrations, how to play certain basic notes on different musical instruments, dance moves, and hunting techniques. Mrs. Janet Moore is the communications class instructor. Pictured are members of the senior class providing their demonstration on how to properly prepare and grill a sirloin steak. |
Class of '09 Begins Their Year with a Parade
In keeping with a long-time tradition, members of the Fuqua School Class of 2009 paraded through the School campus on Wednesday, August 13, as they began their final year of school. A balloon archway, decorated in red, gold, and black and sponsored by the Prince Edward Academy/Fuqua School Alumni Association, greeted the vehicle parade, as middle/upper school students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents gathered along the sides to cheer and welcome the future graduates. Farmville Town Officer Ernie Ross provided a police escort for the Class of 2009. The entire Fuqua School community extends best wishes to the Class of 2009 as they begin the final chapter of their high school years while preparing to embark on the next phase of their lives. |
